Tell Congress: Oppose The Bush Budget!!

President Bush's proposed budget eliminates 47 education programs and cuts 16, including eliminating the single biggest source of federal money for high schools. Tell Congress to REJECT THE BUSH BUDGET and instead GIVE SCHOOLS AND STUDENTS THE RESOURCES NEEDED TO SUCCEED!

NEA Calls For End of Social Security Offsets

Over 60 NEA activists from across the country came to Washington, DC, on January 16 to attend a hearing held by the House Ways and Means Committee, Subcommittee on Social Security, on the Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provision.

The fight continues to move the Social Security Fairness Act (H.R. 82/S. 206) forward for a vote. The bill, which would repeal both the GPO and WEP, has 336 Co-Sponsors in the House and 36 in the Senate -- record numbers for both chambers.  Tell Congress to take IMMEDIATE ACTION to pass this critical legislation.

Congress and Education: A Recap And A Look Ahead To 2008

Congress tackled a number of issues of concern to educators in its first session. Thanks to the grassroots lobbying of NEA members, Congress slowed down the No Child Left Behind Reauthorization, increased education funding and made college more affordable. More education issues will be on the front burner for Congress' second session. Learn more about the current status of Important Education Issues.
